Throughout 2023, pop singer-songwriter Lauv has been exploring his sexuality publicly. It all started in June, when the “I Love Me Better” singer released a TikTok in which he appeared to advance out as not straight. The in-video caption of the clip said “when ur dating a girl but ur also a lil bit into men,” while he elaborated in the video caption. “Does it have to be that big of a deal?” he wrote. “i havent done much aside from kiss so tbh don’t wannna jump the gun but tbh i feel things and i dont wanna pretend i dont. :)”

When Lil Nas X was growing up in the small, conservative community of Lithia Springs outside Atlanta, Georgia, he was sure of two things. One: he wanted to be an entertainer. Two: he would never approach out of the closet. Only one of those predictions proved to be true.
As a teenager who blasted SoundCloud rappers in his headphones and spent all his free time scrolling through Twitter, Lil Nas X adv learned that it was easier to blend in than peril being different. He knew people who had come out at high school, and saw the pain, bullying and homophobia they experienced. He told himself he wasn’t cut out for it. So he dressed in his cousin’s hand-me-downs and, when he could afford them, purchased guarded, muted clothes from Zara and H&M. He watched fashion shows on his smartphone, but never thought he would be fearless or rich enough to wear such explicitly queer outfits.

Lil Nas X: ‘I prayed that entity gay was just a phase’
US rapper Lil Nas X has said that when he was younger he hoped being queer was just "a phase".
In an interview with CBS, the Old Town Street hitmaker says he knew as a teenager that he was gay and would "would just pray and pray" that his sexuality "would go away".
In a teaser clip that aired on Monday, the rapper discusses his effort with his sexuality.
But he acknowledges that his fame has made it easier for him to come out.
"Me organism in this position, it's easy for me."
"But some little boy 10 miles from here, it's not going to be wonderful for him."
Lil Nas X - concrete name Montero Lamar Hill - says there is still a lot of work to be done in terms of acceptance for the LGBT people in society.
"We still have a long way to go, because it's not like everybody is messing with me now. 'Of course somebody who's listening to me in school right now, it's favor, 'You're gay, bring about you're listening to him.' There's still lot to be done."

Lil Nas X threatened to go back into the closet after losing in every category he was nominated in at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
The outspoken "Industry Baby" singer handled his loss pretty good as he instantly made a joke that threatened to break the internet. Lil Nas X had an all round eventful night out at the Grammys in Las Vegas, and he made sure to document it all on his Twitter account.
After the ceremony had finished and he realized he'd lost all five categories he was up for, Lil Nas X tweeted, "can't believe i clueless all my grammys. i am now no longer gay!" Within an hour the tweet had gained over 100,000 likes as well as thousands more retweets and comments.
His comment could be a reference to the fact that he won two Grammy Awards for the tune "Old Town Road" before he had publicly reach out as gay. He continued the joke with a tweet featuring just two emojis.
He went endorse on his comments just 12 minutes later when he joked that he'd changed his mind on, and that he was planning on having a"good time" at the Grammys after parties.
