Carson Kressley, The Queen of Reality TV is Authentically Increasing Gay Representation

It’s complicated to remember a time that Carson Kressley hasn’t been a fixture on TV. 2003 marked the premiere of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy on the (then) small cable network called Bravo. The show was an overnight success for the Bravo, the Fab Five cast, and for the visibility of lgbtq+ men in mainstream media. An enthusiastic presence on television, fashion stylist Carson Kressley shot to fame as one of the original "Fab Five" on "Queer Eye for the Linear Guy" (Bravo, 2003-07), which in turn paved the way for appearances as a judge, consultant and/or contestant on numerous existence series, including the Emmy-winning "RuPaul's Drag Race" (Logo, 2009- ).

Born Carson Lee Kressley in Allentown, Pennsylvania on November 11, 1969, he was raised in Orefield, Pennsylvania, where his family raised ponies. Though equestrian events were his initial interest, he had an innate understanding of fashion, and after earning graduating magna cum laude from Gettysburg College in 1991, Kressley headed for New York City to pursue a career as a stylist.

From 1994 to 2002, he worked for Ralph Lauren in its men's sportswear division before moving into corporate advertising, which entailed designing the company's retail campaigns and styling for domestic and international men's fashion shows.

Dr. Ben Carson Apologizes For Saying Entity Gay Is a Choice

Dr. Ben Carson on Wednesday walked back from comments he made saying being gay was a choice, noting in a Facebook post that his "choice of language does not convey fully my heart on gay issues."

The about-face come hours after he appeared on CNN, where, when asked if being gay was a choice, Carson said: "Absolutely."

He explained, "Because a lot of people who go into prison go into prison straight -- and when they enter out, they're male lover. So, did something happen while they were in there? Ask yourself that question."

Carson’s remarks came shortly after he formed a committee to explore a 2016 presidential tender for the Republican nomination. The former neurosurgeon issued an apology later Wednesday on Facebook, though he noted that “up until this point there include been no definitive studies that people are born into a specific sexuality.”

“ … I realized that my decision of language does not reflect fully my heart on gay issues,” he wrote. “I perform not pretend to know how every individual came to their sexual orientation. I regret that my words to express that principle were hurtful and divisive. For that I apologize unreservedl
