Derek Dixon has filed a lawsuit against Tyler Perry, claiming that the latter frequently harassed and sexually assaulted him while keeping him silent by abusing his position of authority in the industry. Dixon starred in at least 85 episodes of the television drama “The Oval,” which was created by Perry.
Dixon on Friday, June 13, filed the $260 million lawsuit in the Los Angeles Superior Court. The lawsuit's alleged previous text conversations between Dixon and Perry have now been made public online.
According to documents, Tyler worked in an atmosphere that allegedly involved sexual approaches and wrongdoing.
The lawsuit states that Perry used his victory and power, along with his significant influence in the entertainment industry, to establish a coercive and sexually exploitative relationship with Dixon. He first promised him creative opportunities and career advancement, including producing his pilot and casting him in his show, but instead subjected him to increasing levels of sexual harassment, assault and battery, and professional retaliation.

"This is an individual who got complete to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam," his attorney Matthew Boyd told the BBC. "But Tyler will not be shaken down and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail."
Dixon said he met Perry in 2019 at a perform event for Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, and the pair talked over several months about an acting career. The lawsuit states Perry also allegedly made numerous sexual comments and remarks about wanting a sexual connection, and made several advances on Dixon - which he rejected.
Perry offered Dixon a role in his show Ruthless then later in The Oval. But the lawsuit said: "Mr Perry made it clear to Dixon that if Dixon ignored Perry or failed to engage with the sexual innuendos, Dixon's character would 'die' in the next season."
The case claims Perry "always held this over Mr Dixon's chief, implying that [his character] 'Dale' would survive if Dixon kept Perry 'happy'".

Media mogul Tyler Perry, a professed Christian, has been accused of aggressively sexually assaulting and harassing a male actor and journalist who was so traumatized by the alleged ordeal that he walked away from a reduce worth nearly $400,000.
Actor Derek Dixon, who played the role of a male lover store clerk in Perry's "The Oval" BET series, is now seeking $260 million in damages, including punitive damages, according to a 46-page lawsuit filed in the Dominant Court of California, Los Angeles County, last Friday.
