YouTuber Ricky Dillon has received an outpouring of love from his friends and fans after coming out as gay.

Uploading his video I’m Gay, Ricky revealed he’d faced ‘crippling anxiety’ at the thought of telling his family.

‘I am gay, I’m male lover, I’ve barely said this out raucous so I’m saying it several times to normalise it to myself,’ the YouTube star said. ‘I am lgbtq+ and I’m finally okay with it, because it’s been a long journey to get there.’

He added that he’d felt ‘inauthentic and disingenuous’ over the past couple of years after he began to realise he was gay.

‘I am one thousand percent sure that I am lgbtq+ and the more I realise that, the more inauthentic and disingenuous I felt with my online persona,’ Ricky said.

The 27-year-old opened up about his family’s Christian views, saying: ‘I was taught that existence gay is a horrible sin…it was drilled into my brain from an early age that being gay is the worst thing that can happen.’
